Season & Rates: Massachusetts' South Shore generally sees quality striped-bass fishing from mid-May through mid-October. Bluefish are usually available from mid-July through September. Half-day trip (four hours).......................$300 Full-day trip (six to seven hours)...........$400 A $100 deposit is required to confirm all bookings. On cancellations, the deposit will be refunded only if you cancel within 14 days of your scheduled date. Captain Cook reserves the right to cancel any trip due to weather; in this case, you'll be given the option of substituting another date or receiving a full refund. What to bring: If you prefer your own fly tackle, Captain Cook recommends a 8- to 10-weight rod and a reel that holds at least 150 yards of 20- or 30-pound test backing. The reel should be equipped with fast-sinking line and have a spare spool rigged with weight-forward intermediate or floating line. You should also bring polarized sunglasses, a hat, sunblock, and foul-weather gear.
