About Captain Cook:

Captain Cook has over 40 years experience fishing Boston Harbor and Cape Cod Bay area. Even though his experience is greatest in this particular area, it is certainly not limited to it. He has also fished throughout the Florida Keys and the coast of Alaska.

What to expect:

The majority of striped bass you'll catch will be "schoolie" fish in the 5- to 10-pound range. However, 30-inch fish are plentiful in the area and hooking onto a fish in the 20- to 30-pound range is not uncommon. Bluefish average 4 to 8 pounds, but again, much larger fish do frequent these waters.

Much of your fishing will be done with streamer flies beneath the surface. However, you'll have a fair chance of stripers or blues busting on baitfish. If you haven't experienced this already, nothing can compare to watching one of these brutes slam a streamer or popping bug on the surface! Weather conditions on the ocean are rarely ideal, and you can expect to encounter some degree of wind. Although Captain Cook will make every effort to position the boat for the best casting advantage, he recommends you take some time before your trip to practice flycasting, especially in the wind. Captain Cook strongly supports catch-and-release. However, if you'd like to keep a legal fish for the table, you're well within your rights.

Challenging on any gear:

Striped bass and bluefish fight best on fly tackle and light spinning gear. To battle a 15 to 20 pound striper on a 4-ounce rod....to watch an enraged bluefish bolt from the depths and smash a popping bug....to hear your reel sing as these fish tear off yard after yard of line. These are memories not soon forgotten!

Other Services:
